Mirage of the Truth

Mirage is part of illusion, something which was seem as it is but in reality it was not the actual reality. Such as the case of Hagar, wife of Ibrahim as the prophet, when at that time whe saw water flew on the desert so then she ran after it to find water for her thirsty baby, Ismail, then aparently there were no water at all. That was a mirage. Only shadows and illusions, not real and fact.

The same thing also happened when the Pharaoh’s sorcerers conjured the rope to creep like snakes, then those snakes were actually only a mirage. Just an illusion, ropes can not be converted into living creatures like snakes. Only Allah swt who has the capability to convert objects into living creatures.

This also similar with the things which was preached at many mosques or in television by some ustadz. They pushed moslem people to be close with Qoran, always read Qoran and become friends of Qoran. Use Qoran as the only one of guidance in our own life, in community’s life and in the whole nation’s life.

So, then what was wrong with that? The mistake was at how we put the Qoran at an unproper position. When someone or an ustadz practicing something in accordance with Qoran, the truth is actually he is doing something in accordance with his understanding of Qoran, not the real meaning of Qoran itself.

Does anyone who thought that he is so close with Qoran and lives based on Qoran can drive him to a wrong path or deviated? The answer is Yes, it is possible.

Because the truth is someone should be close to Allah swt, not close to Qoran, and someone is should be based on the guidance from Allah swt, not based on his thought of Qoran. Because this will not make sense for someone who feels that he is close to Qoran but in reality he is far away from Allah swt.

Today, there had been so many of young people who has been deviated and mistakenly understand this truth. They thought that they have been so close wtih Qoran, they thought that they are ultimately true. Whereas in reality what was closed is their own understandings of Qoran. Whereas in reality what was closed is their ustadz understanding of interpreting the Qoran. Not the real meaning of Qoran itself. That was what we call it as a mirage, illusion or magic.

Does anyone who thought that he is so close with Qoran and lives based on Qoran can drive him to a wrong path or deviated? The answer is Yes, it is possible. Only the people who is close to Allah and stick to the rope of Allah’s guidance will not be deviated and perverted forever.

وَمَنْ يُسْلِمْ وَجْهَهُ إِلَى اللَّهِ وَهُوَ مُحْسِنٌ فَقَدِ اسْتَمْسَكَ بِالْعُرْوَةِ الْوُثْقَىٰ ۗ وَإِلَى اللَّهِ عَاقِبَةُ الْأُمُورِ
“And whoever submits his face to Allah while he is a doer of good - then he has grasped the most trustworthy handhold. And to Allah will be the outcome of [all] matters.” (QS 31:22)

On the contrary, people who based their life on the book, the truth is they are actually based their life on their understanding of God’s book. And since ancient times, the scribes will guide their followers to the wrong and deviated path. Even the scribes can turn their follower to become unbelievers. Only the ones who stick to Allah’s guidance will find the straight path.

وَكَيْفَ تَكْفُرُونَ وَأَنْتُمْ تُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْكُمْ آيَاتُ اللَّهِ وَفِيكُمْ رَسُولُهُ ۗ وَمَنْ يَعْتَصِمْ بِاللَّهِ فَقَدْ هُدِيَ إِلَىٰ صِرَاطٍ مُسْتَقِيمٍ
“And how could you disbelieve while to you are being recited the verses of Allah and among you is His Messenger? And whoever holds firmly to Allah has [indeed] been guided to a straight path.” (QS 3:101)

The ones who blown up himself in a suicide bomb as terrorists are the ones who claimed that they were doing jihad which was based on Qoran. Those are the impacts if people only close and based their view on their private understanding or their ustadz’s understanding in interpreting Qoran, but without any guidance from Allah swt. They come to the wrong and deviated path, far away from the straight path.

It was true what was our guru previously teached us, that one should be closed to Allah swt, not closed to the book. So, then the most important thing to do is keeping our heart in dhikr to Allah in the effort of keeping ourselves always closed to Allah. Not just close to Qoran. How come that someone is closed to Qoran, but in reality he is far away from Allah’s guidance? That was a mirage, they thought that they are right but in fact they are wrong. (AK/ST)
