Prayer to Remember Allah
As a servant, human was created by Allah swt with instinct and basic will to worshiping his Creator. In Islamic teachings, there are many types of worshiping, starting from prayer, fasting, giving zakah, doing good deeds until doing hajj or umroh pilgrimage.
But unfortunately that not many moslem people understand the relationship between each types of worshiping. It seems that each type of worshiping is uncorrelated and splitted. Whereas in fact it is not the case.
Such as for example prayer, then this kind of worshiping is done by a servant of Allah not intended just for sujud and ruku only, and neither for collecting rewards. But prayer is done in the purpose of doing dhikr to remember Allah swt.
إِنَّنِي أَنَا اللَّهُ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا أَنَا فَاعْبُدْنِي وَأَقِمِ الصَّلَاةَ لِذِكْرِي
“Surely I, Ever I, am Allah; there is no god except I; so worship Me, and keep up the prayer for My Remembrance.” (QS 20:14)
Fardhu prayer in 5 times a day and a night was only the way from Allah swt to educate people so then their heart will be able to always be remembering Allah swt.
Because prayer was meant to be done every time by a servant of Allah swt forever. A servant of Allah shall be permanently in a state of remembering Allah swt, in worshiping Him and in prayer to Him.
الَّذِينَ هُمْ عَلَىٰ صَلَاتِهِمْ دَائِمُونَ
“Those who are permanent in their prayer.“(QS 70:23)
So, then in order to be able to do prayer for 50 times a day, and in order to be able to do prayer permanently every time, then the only way to achieve that is by doing dhikr, remembering Allah swt. Because doing dhikr to remember Allah swt is an ultimate worshiping compared with the other types of worshiping. So, it is not fardu prayer in 5 times a day.
“Recite, [O Muhammad], what has been revealed to you of the Book and establish prayer. Indeed, prayer prohibits immorality and wrongdoing, and the remembrance of Allah is greater. And Allah knows that which you do.” (QS 29:45)
So, those are the points which was taught by our guru to his disciples to realign the wrong understanding so far. That prayer is in the purpose of remebering Allah swt, and apparently doing dhikr to remember Allah swt is the most ultimate worshiping compared with the other type of worshiping.
Hence, as for someone who has been already doing fardhu prayer 5 times in a day not to be so arrogant and admired. Because those are not yet enough. Not yet reaching the real goal of worshiping, not yet come to the most ultimate one. (AK/ST)
