Required for the True Scholars

Starting with the preach of a member of Law Commission of Central Indonesian Scholars House, Anton Tabah and Ustadz Munzir Situmorang that on several of their preach saying that 2 million of moslem people are apostate every year. Within the era of 1980s, the percentage of moslem people in Indonesia was more than 90%, then it was decreasing in 2000 to become only 88.2%, and kept decreasing on 2010 to become only 85.1%.

Eventhough there are many people doubted with the rate of apostate cases amongst moslem people, but we can not deny that there is a massive apostate cases happened. As for example that in West of Java estimatedly that there are around 3.5 million moslem are converted out of Islam within 4 years. And this number will be larger for several other provinces like in South East Sulawesi, Central Java and NTT.

At one of the recitation session, our guru told this issue to his disciples. That the cases of moslem people converted out from Islam which happened in many remote areas, are corelated with the characteristics and behaviours of the scholars.

As we all know, that today most of the scholars that we found are merely a product of the popular culture, so then what we found are the famous scholars that are actually the popular scholars. Not the true scholars.

The true scholars, are the scholars which we found at ancient time, are the ones who sincerely want to leave every kind of glorious, famaous, popularity and every kind of luxurious. They were fully dedicating themselves only for the purpose of Allah swt, not for themselves, nor for political purpose. They wanted to go and stay at very remote areas that are very silent and far away from the amusement and wordly splendor, for the sake of fulfilling their duty as instructed by Allah swt to call the people, to give lessons with hikmah and passion.

“Invite to the way of your Lord with wisdom and good instruction, and argue with them in a way that is best. Indeed, your Lord is most knowing of who has strayed from His way, and He is most knowing of who is [rightly] guided.” (QS 16:125)

But unfortunately, as for today we can hardly find a scholar like the true scholar previously. The ones that we found many today are the popular scholars, who run after for fame and only giving preach at big cities. None who has willingness to go to the remote areas.

The impact of this condition is the rate of moslem people who converted out from Islam is increased, many of them are from the remote areas. Where everything is difficult, faciity is almost none, and on top of this there is none of the scholar who can give them guidance and become their role model. Under such condition, then it would be reasonable if there is scholars come from other religion which can be accepted as their role model, then they will be easily converted out from Islam.

The scholars who are expected as the heir of the prophet, today they are almost none who fulfill their responsibility. Many of the scholars today are the preacher, eventhough that the prophet saw and all of the Allah’s messengers are not a preacher.

Today, we need urgently the true scholars who are sincerely want to dedicate themselves to go and stay at the remote areas, for the prupose of giving guidance and lessons to the people. Giving examples and hikmah to the people who are really need for it. Giving the water to the people who are really thirsty, giving food to the people who are really hungry, not to the people who are already full in stay in big cities. (AK/ST)
