Purifying the Mosque from Idol

Idol as defined by Allah swt which was stated in the Qoran, is a form of worship apart from Allah swt that was self-created by human without any knowledge or instruction from Allah swt.

Long time ago, when the event of Futhul Mekka was happened at 20th Ramadhan 8H, the first thing which was done by Rasulullah saw was purifying the Ka’bah from the idols. There were no less than 360 idols around and inside of Ka’bah were destroyed. Including was the idol of picture of Abraham and his sons who were archering.

During his action destroying those idols, Rasulullah saw was repeatedly saying this verse of the Qoran as below:

قُلْ جَاءَ الْحَقُّ وَمَا يُبْدِئُ الْبَاطِلُ وَمَا يُعِيدُ
“Say, "The truth has come, and falsehood can neither begin [anything] nor repeat [it]." (QS 34:49)

Then, as of today we find out that the same thing is repeatedly happened again, that we fing out in the mosques some ornaments which can be fallen into the category of idol. Such as the symbol of crescent moon and star at the minaret of the mosque. That one was not originated from the teaching of Rasulullah saw, because actually the symbol was adopted from the era of Turk imperium which was adopted the symbol from the goddess of the moon from the Rome imperium era.

The other forms of the idols are the symbol or logo of the script of Allah and Mohammed inside of the mosque. As we all knew that Allah saw the Almighty is unseen, He can not be seen by our eyes and nothing can be in similar form as Him. Not in a kind of form nor in a kind of script. So, then the symbol or the script of Allah which was hanged at the wall of the pulpit, is not Allah swt Himself.

It was afraid that such symbol or the script can be misunderstood or misled mistakenly, and fall at new form of idolship. So, then our guru explained that it is better not to put the symbol nor the script of Allah and Mohammed inside of the mosque. It should be enough to put caligraph of the Qoran verses or any kind of ornaments which will not lead to the new form of idolship. (AK/ST)
