Basic Foundation of Islamic Aqeedah
Our guru proposed that the basic foundation of aqeedah for moslem people are the Qoran and Sunnah Rasul. Not based on the hadith books.
It was not because we do not want to obey the rule and instruction from Rasulullah saw, but today it is very difficult to verify that all which were stated within the hadith books today were really from Rasulullah saw.
If we open the qoran or Sunnah Rasulullah saw, then we would not find any explanation about the method or tool to verify that any statements were really coming from Rasulullah saw or not.
At least, there shall be 4 main points which shall be verified when we found a hadith. First, how we could verify that a hadith was really coming from Rasulullah saw or not? Then, to whom that hadith was intended for? What is the background story of that hadith? What is the reason and purpose of that hadith being stated by Rasulullah saw?
Without having verification of those 4 main points above, then our knowledge to that hadith will be very minimum and unsufficient, it may cause to put us on misunderstanding and mistake.
The following example is describing how a hadith which had been declared as shahih by ulema and scholar will be interpreted.
From Anas ibn Malik ra, that Rasulullah saw stated, “(The hell of) Jahanam still said: Is there any additional person? So then finally god the Almighty put His leg. Then the hell said: enough, enough, for the sake of Thee Glory. Then the hell closely folded each other.”
That hadith above was written in the collection of shahih hadith by Bukhari and also was written in the shahih hadith book by Muslim (HR. Bukhari no. 6661 and Muslim no. 2848).
As for ordinary person like us, that hadith above was explicitly stated that Allah swt has leg. This kind of statement made that hadith can not be referred to as the basic foundation of aqidah, because accepting the understanding that Allah swt has leg is a kind of corrupted aqidah. That hadith was also against the Qoran which stated that none is similar with Allah swt.
فَاطِرُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ ۚ جَعَلَ لَكُمْ مِنْ أَنْفُسِكُمْ أَزْوَاجًا وَمِنَ الْأَنْعَامِ أَزْوَاجًا ۖ
يَذْرَؤُكُمْ فِيهِ ۚ لَيْسَ كَمِثْلِهِ شَيْءٌ ۖ وَهُوَ السَّمِيعُ الْبَصِيرُ
“[He is] Creator of the heavens and the earth. He has made for you from yourselves, mates, and among the cattle, mates; He multiplies you thereby. There is nothing like unto Him, and He is the Hearing, the Seeing.” (QS 42:11)
In order to well understood that hadith above is significantly difficult, perhaps it needs a knowledge of an hadith expert to understand it perfectly. So, then we agree to consider that such hadith was not intended for ordinary people, because it will be potentially damaged our Islamic aqeedah.
So, it needs high awareness in accepting a certain hadith. Does it really come from Rasulullah saw or not?
